We took a big step towards sustainable distilling today with the installation of a solar and battery system to power the distillery.
With the support of a grant from the Mid Devon Green Enterprise Scheme we were able to invest in a 14kW solar system, made up of 34 roof solar panels, as well as a 13kW battery array to store the excess solar we generate for use in peak times when we are distilling.
Any excess energy we produce is sent back to the grid as renewable electricity.
With the recent addition of a closed-loop chiller system that will also be powered by solar, this makes our distillation process 100% sustainable.
This is just one step on our journey to be a carbon neutral business. We are looking at all aspects of our operation from packaging to deliveries.
The journey to reducing our impact on the environment is an ongoing one, but for now we are very happy to be powered by the sun.
